A new chapter for Finnish pine

Vaarnii returns to Copenhagen this June to present the complete Maasto family by Ronan Bouroullec. What began in 2024 as an exploration of Finnish pine now reaches full form, a collection that merges material honesty, sculptural simplicity, and timeless functionality.

The Maasto series expands with new dining pieces, fresh material iterations in stained pine, and upholstered variants in Kvadrat textiles. Together, they underline Vaarnii’s evolving vision: to design enduring objects with integrity, made from the forests of Finland and built to last for generations.

The Setting

Location: Sølvgade 5, 1307 Copenhagen

Dates: June 18–20, 2025

Opening hours: 09:00–18:00

The Copenhagen venue will transform into a calm yet powerful expression of Vaarnii’s world — raw pine against soft light, industrial detail meeting craft precision. It’s an environment that speaks the same language as the furniture: bold, simple, and unmistakably Nordic.

About the Maasto Collection

Ronan Bouroullec’s Maasto collection takes cues from Finland’s topography and everyday architecture: modest, functional, built to endure. The forms are strong yet human, balancing clarity with comfort. Each element is an exercise in restraint: reducing, refining, and returning to the essence of material and proportion.

Through Maasto, Vaarnii continues its dialogue between craft and culture, nature and design as an honest reflection of how contemporary Finnish design can be both grounded and progressive.

A Continuation, Not a Repeat

At 3daysofdesign 2024, Vaarnii introduced the first chapter of this journey — exploring “the evolution of pine” through experimentation and dialogue. In 2025, the narrative matures: less talk, more proof. The full Maasto family represents the brand’s commitment to refinement, not reinvention.
